CHABOT HOME
  what the campaign will fund

The Chabot: Way to Grow! campaign will bridge the funding gap between Chabot’s campus master plan and Measure B funding, as follows:

Phase I: Library, Media Lab and Classrooms
(COMPLETE!)

Funding requirement: $34,000
During Phase I, Chabot’s library was moved from its former basement home to the renovated auditorium. Chabot’s new media lab now shares space with the new library so that old and new media can be used in tandem as research tools. New furniture was also purchased for many of the classrooms. The $34,000 budget included the following expenses:

  • Tables and Chairs, Library ($9,000)
  • Computers, Media Lab ($12,000)
  • Chairs, Media Lab ($2,000)
  • Teachers’ Desks ($7,000)

Phase II: Upper Playground
Funding requirement: $226,556
Chabot’s upper grades lost their playground at the start of construction and all students must currently share a single play structure designed for the school‘s youngest. The Chabot community is committed to raising healthy children by supporting 3rd to 5th graders’ daily P.E. programs and recess activities with age-appropriate climbing and play structures. Recognizing that upper grade students are developing their social skills and can use places to congregate in small groups, the PTA has also committed to raising funds for a stepped seating area in the upper yard as a congregating space for students and also to provide an outdoor classroom for use by Chabot’s teachers. The upper playground budget comprises:

  • Stepped Seating, Upper Yard ($84,750)
  • Play Structure and Safety Surfacing ($94,206)
  • Upper Yard Landscaping [Artificial Turf] ($47,600)

Phase II: Garden
Funding requirement: $50,000
Chabot’s garden provided students with hands-on lessons in nutrition, ecology and biology. This beloved part of the Chabot campus was dismantled to accommodate the construction project, and will need to be rebuilt from scratch. Most of the labor for rebuilding the garden will be donated by Chabot families. Examples of garden budget items are:

  • Garden Steps ($8,000)
  • Trees, Shrubs & Perennials ($5,585)
  • Stepped Seating ($17,000)
  • Greenhouse for Propagation ($6,000)
  • Irrigation ($5,000)
