H1N1 Update: Prevent the Spread of Swine Flu at Chabot

The following bulletin is posted in the Health Resources section of the OUSD Web site:

October 6, 2009 – Alameda County (County) announced today the receipt of initial supplies of H1N1 vaccine countywide.  This live, attenuated nasal mist form of the H1N1 flu vaccine is only recommended for healthy, non-pregnant people aged 2 to 49 years.   

Healthcare providers, in addition to the County’s Public Health Department, expect additional supplies of both the nasal and the injectable forms of the H1N1 flu vaccine in mid- to late-October.   

Those residents at highest risk of exposure to or complications from the H1N1 virus should contact their primary care provider for the vaccine.  All other high-risk residents without insurance or direct access to a primary care provider can receive the vaccine at one of the County’s planned 19 H1N1 vaccination clinic sites, which begin November 7 in Oakland and Fremont.
