Interested parents should call the Chabot Office (510-879-1060) to register for a tour.
Admission to Chabot Elementary and other schools in the Oakland Unified School District is determined by the district's Student Assignment Office, which is responsible for registering and assigning all OUSD students. This office is located in downtown Oakland at:
1025 Second Avenue, Portable 18 Oakland, CA 94606 Telephone 510) 879-8111 E-mail: enroll@ousdk12.ca.us
Each year, the SAO holds an Options Fair where parents and guardians can learn about Oakland public schools. Contact the SAO or check the OUSD Web site (see below) for the date, time and location of the annual Options Fair.
The school selection process begins in January, when parents or guardians submit Selections Application forms to the district. These forms are available from the SAO or from any public elementary school in Oakland. When submitting the application, you must also bring proof of your child's age (birth certificate, passport, I-94 or a transcript or report card from a California school), and three original documents to verify your address, such as utility bills, automobile registration with proof of insurance, homeowner or renter’s insurance policy, property tax statement, rental agreement, grant deed or title to your home, property tax statement or official letter from a social service or government agency.
Selections Applications are submitted to the Student Assignment Office at the end of January. The SAO reviews the applications and assigns each child to a school. Families will receive an assignment letter sometime in the spring.
For more information, please contact the SAO or visit the OUSD Web site at www.ousd.k12.ca.us.
